The Doctors asked Existence Genetics to perform Existence’s unique genetic testing on three individuals for the show (one teenager and one newlywed couple) and the results were discussed during the episode.

Due to a family history of male pattern baldness, the teenager (Adam) was not only very concerned about going bald but also what he could do to protect himself against losing his hair if his genes indicated he was at increased risk.
Existence Genetics found that he does, in fact, have a very high risk of going bald. Because of this, Existence provided him and his doctor with a report that contained personalized information about what he can do to start protecting himself against hair loss. This includes information on a number of specific lifestyle modifications and, if hair loss starts, over-the-counter and prescription medications.
Elizabeth and Joaquin are thinking about having children and were concerned about diseases and conditions that they may pass on to their future (not-yet-conceived) children. They were hopeful that by undergoing Existence’s genetic testing, they could help protect their future children against any diseases they may be genetically predisposed to or carry. Because of this, Existence Genetics used its groundbreaking technology to screen for over 750 common and rare diseases in the couple!
The testing performed by Existence Genetics went on to reveal that their future children were likely to inherit a gene that is likely to increase IQ only if the child is breastfed as a baby.
Joaquin’s mother was also adopted, so he, himself, didn’t know much about his family’s medical history and wanted to learn if he was predisposed to any diseases or conditions that he can start protecting himself against today. After genetic testing, Joaquin was found to be predisposed to salt-sensitive high blood pressure and Elizabeth was found to be predisposed to early-onset heart attack. This incredibly useful information is now being used to empower both them and their healthcare providers so that they are protected against these diseases.
